One piece

For the past 4 months I have been binge watching all of one piece. I feel as if I must -it's my duty- to express how wonderful of a show this is. Sure it may be over 700 episode and still going but it is WORTH IT.

Honestly, I really was not up for watching this show. I felt it was too long and it didn't catch my interest; for the first 100 episodes I felt like I was getting dragged along. It took multiple tries for me to get into this show but in the end I was invested.

Monkey D. Luffy
One piece is about a young boy name Luffy, about age 17, who heads off to sea to become a pirate but not just any pirate but the king of the pirates. For one to become the king of the pirates they must travel across the world and the toughest sea: the grand line. The story follows the story of how Luffy travels the sea and gathers a crew and travel the grand line. The story is filled with happy moments and moments which you'll end up crying. It's an anime/manga with the perfect about of comedy, action and sentimental moments which make you connect more with each character.

SPOILERS

The way I'll be doing the spoilers will be by season (technically there are 17 seasons currently).

Season 1

The way we are introduced to Luffy is very special.  By chance he is not the first character to appear. In fact we find him later on in the episode, sleeping in a barrel. By chance his first encounter through the show is with another young boy who wants to be a marine. During the first episode we find out that there are these things called devil fruits. One a person eats these devil fruits they gain unique powers which vary from many different abilities. Along with these once a person eats a devil fruit they become unable to swim and also one cannot eat 2 devil fruits. By chance(if you want to call it that) Luffy is a person who ate the "gum gum fruit", a devil fruit which allows one to become a rubber man.

Zoro
During the first season Luffy sets out to find people to join his crew. After some incidents Luffy meets Zoro, a three sword style swordsmen; known as the pirate hunter Zoro.  After saving Zoro's life from almost being killed by marines/the navy, Zoro ends up joining Luffy's crew as his official first member.
Nami

Also in the first season we meet the crews navigator: Nami. (Luffy and Zoro are useless when in comes to navigating). We soon figure out that Nami is a girl who loves money but only steals from pirates. She agrees to travel with Luffy but it seems very suspicious.
The only real threat that these three encounter is Buggy the clown. Which is another character who possess a devil fruit power. Him being unable to be cut by anything. Luffy does end up beating him.

Season 2

Usopp
In season 2 the crew sets anchor on an island. There they meet Usopp, a young man who wants to be a pirate and protect his villagers.  However Usopp has a habit of telling outrageous lies which leads him into trouble with the other villagers and makes him seem untrustworthy. Usopp does end up being apart of Luffy's crew as the sniper.
Sanji
During this season the crew faces off with the threat of the black cat pirates. The part really shows off the skills of Luffy and Zoro.

We also end up finding a cook for the ship. Which ends up being Sanji; a cook that only fights with his lags and who is also obsessed with women.
We also encounter other challenges during this part which lead to Zoro being injured. And more fighting.

At the very end of the season. Nami ends up stealing the ship and the others end up going after her.

Season 3

The crew chases after Nami and finds her on her home island which is being ruled by the fishman pirates or also known as Arlong's crew. This leads to Nami's  heart reaching back story about why she steals money from pirates.  Luffy ends up saving Nami from Arlong and she officially joins she crew.

Season 4

To enter the grand line Luffy's crew (also known as the straw hat pirates ) have to start at longtown, the place where the last king of the pirates GOLD ROGER was executed. Luffy ends up in trouble and having to run away from marines.  Zoro finds new swords and runs into marines also. They all end up escaping.

The map
There was also another part about a young girl who needed help saving a dragon. But I consider this a small story which wasn't that important to the plot.

Season 5

Finally they reach the red line. Which is the line that you have to get across to enter the grand line because it's impossible to enter any other way.
They meet an old man and a whale name Laboon. (This is relevant for a later story).
After that encounter they a town full of assassins from a company name baroque works. This situation gets oddly complicated when you figure out that one of the
The Grand Line Map
members of this company is actually an undercover princess name Vivi. The straw hat pirates end up protecting Vivi and escorting her to her home land.

Season 6
Chopper

The beginning of this season show their journey to alabasta. They encounter giants and more Baroque works agents who keep trying to kill Luffy and his crew along with Vivi.
Then they end up on a season island that had winter climate.  When the crew gets there they attempt to find a doctor because Nami falls ill. There they meet chopper; a reindeer that ate the human human fruit and now is able to walk and talk like a human. It also happens that Chopper is a well skilled doctor. After helping Chopper and saving the residents on the island the crew sets out.

Season 7

Nico Robin
The crew arrives on alabasta and try their best to figure out the best way to stop the revolution in the kingdom. We figure out that the person who is mainly behind this is one of the 7 warlords - they're people who are pirates but have sided with the world gouvernement which gives them special privileges.  The season processes as the group faces many challenges. By the end of the season Luffy ends up beating the warlord.

**also an important side note. This is where we meet Nico Robin. During this part she worked under the warlord. But by the end you could tell she wasn't really on his side. Luffy ends up saving her as well.**

At the end Luffy ends up with another crew-mate: Nico Robin.

Season 8

In my opinion this entire season wasn't that important to me. It gave depth to the characters. It shows the mystery of the rainbow mist. And explores it's tail. This is where the series starts to include more odd type of things which you find in the grand line.

Season 9

This season mainly focuses on Sky island. We also meet some interesting characters like blackbeard during this part.

The crew ends up following the story of Nolan the liar. Which leads to sky island. In sky island they meet a treat which also ate a devil fruit and now calls himself a god. The crew really ends up fighting when some members end up kidnapped, so they go to save them. The crew ends up going through different trials to save their other crewmates.

During this part we figure out more about Robin and how she's an archaeologist who wants to learn about the "lost history" also known as the "blank era". Which is a time that in unknown, destroyed,  erased from the new era. To find out this information Robin must find the ponogliphs. She finds one on this island however it doesn't really talk about the history but more so one of the ancient weapons of the past.

Luffy and his crew up end winning against the man who calls himself a god and head back to the grand line. Once they're back on the grand line they automatically end up in trouble because they landing right in the middle of a marine base.

Season 10

The crew fight to escape the marines base and are successful.
The crew ends up running into another pirate crew called the foxy pirates and then are challenged to a Davy back. They go through a series of competitions which they either lose members or gained them.
By the end of the season the crew realized they need to really help the Going Mary  (their ship) because she is in terrible shape. Thus making them go to find a shipwright.

Season 11

Franky
After some other short events the crew find themselves on Galley La. This is where they could find the perfect people to fix their ship. During this part many things happen.  Robin goes missing. Usopp quits the crew and ends up fighting Luffy. They end up having to find a new ship. There was an assassination attempt of the mayor. They meet a cyborg name Franky (who later joins their crew after building them a new ship [called the thousand sunny]. He becomes the ships shipwright ). Robin ends up being captured by the marines. The straw hats end up going to save her which they do but at the same time end up declaring war on the world government.

By the end of the season Franky ends up being apart of the crew. Usopp ends up returning to the crew. Robin ends up being an official wanted member of the crew. And the entire crew ends up with bounties.

Season 12

Brook
During this season the encounter people who are a family of skilled bounty hunters. They end up defeating them.

They meet Brook; a talking skeleton who was a person who ate the revive revive fruit, he is also a musician (something Luffy always wanted on the crew). They find out that Brook had his shadow stolen which prevents him from being in daylight. By the end of this season Brook joins the crew and talks about his past as well as getting his shadow back.

At the end of this season, the crew end up on the Saraobody Archipelago. Where they run into other rookies with bounties over 100 million beli. They all end up being called the worst generation. They all end up having a run in with the Navy. Unlike the rest of the crew – they travel to the second half of the grand line – Luffy and his crew end up all being separated.

Season 13 - season 14

Porgus D. Ace/
Gol D. Ace
After being separated, Luffy finds out that his brother – Ace has been captures by the marines and has been sentenced to death via execution style. Luffy goes to Impel Down to save his down. After fighting against really strong marines and by an accident setting free thousands of prisoners, Luffy figures out that his brother was already on his way to the place of his execution – the marine capital Marie Jois.  There Luffy enters a way between the marines and the whitebeard pirates. Luffy almost succeeds in saving his brother but at the last moment Ace is killed right in front of Luffy’s eyes. (This part made me cry for at least an hour straight).

Season 15

Two years have passed since Ace’s death and the crew finally meet back on the Saraobody Archipelago to head to Fishman Island. There they end up in a political matter and end up fighting against the new fishman pirates. There Luffy and his crew become the new symbol of humanity and heroes.

Season 16

Trafalgar Law
After the crew leaves Fishman Island they find themselves on Punk Hazard; an island that is half on fire and the other half completely covered in snow. This is where the crew end up forming an alliance with Trafalgar Law. They end up going up against a mad scientist named Caesar. After freeing a bunch of kids from the factory (the kids were being experimented on), and capturing Caesar, the crew leaves Punk Hazard.

Season 17 (current season)

The Straw Hat pirates and Trafalgar Law travel to Dressrosa to destroy another one of Caesars factories. We also find out
Doflamingo
the reason behind these actions. Trafalgar Law wants to take down one of the seven War lords: Dolflamingo. These leads them into a long fight (like this season is at 70 episodes already).

We find out that Luffy’s other brother is alive and also that Zoro can use Haki. That’s basically all so far.

Haikyuu

I have been having a huge sport anime obsession of lately. The entire idea and concept is amazing. I originally thought it was stupid but this show has made me realize how truly amazing these types of anime are.

Haikyuu is a volleyball anime, that focuses on the different goals and fears of each individual player. In the beginning, you are introduced to Hinata and Tobio. The anime started with these two player volleyball against each other, on separate teams. Hinata had one goal during that game, to keep playing. While on the other hand Tobio wanted to win. The game finished with Tobio's team winning. At that moment Hinata swears that he'll beat Tobio.

They each go to high school to join their own respective team. However, they find themselves going to the same school. The two end up settling their differences and started to work together. They figure out that the only person who is able to utilize each others powers, are each other. That made them an amazing pair. However they also soon faced challenges that made it hard for them, they come to the realization that they can't win on their own.

Throughout the series, we see a variation through the back-stories of each character. Each back-stories shows each characters fears, such as Hinata's fear of not being good enough to keep on playing.

As you watch through the series you see lots of emotion, with each characters. You learn to feel sympathy and a connection with each character.

I recommend anyone who's into anime to watch it. The series will make you fall in love with sports anime.

Doctor Who Revived

I have been watching this show like it was my life's mission and I finally was able to completely it a few weeks ago. The show emotionally pained me so much that juts thinking of certain parts made me cry.

I only watched the revived version, so the 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th doctors. I have to admit each of them brought something amazing to the show. Each had their own aspect that made it entertaining.
Doctor Who is about a Time Lord who travels through time and space to solve problems and along with him there is his companies, who change throughout the series. The Doctor travels in a device that is called the TARDIS (Time and Relative Dimensions in Space), which is his old and occasionally unreliable spaceship that resembles a blue police phone box. The show starts when the 9th Doctor played by Christopher Eccleston, meets Rose, played by Billie Piper, and together they both defeat a manikin army. The rest of the series consist of different unique creatures from other worlds and a new problem and some reappearing enemies.

The next thing I'll like to comment on is each of the doctors. The first one is the 9th Doctor. He is known as the fighter among the fandom. He is the one who is steal recovering from something called The Time War. A fight the Doctor had participated in. The 9th Doctor is played by Christopher Eccleston, he brought me to a welcoming beginning for the series. His character made me laugh and sympathize with the Doctor as a person. He also had this way of expressing how extraordinary

the Doctor's character is.

The second doctor you meet is the 10th Doctor and he is by far my favorite doctor of them all. The 10th Doctor is played by David Tennant. The 10th Doctor is known as the Lover among the fandom and he is exactly what that means. During his collection of  the series he has this huge romantic aspect with Rose Tyler and they are the most adorable thing in the world. David Tennant added this funny aspect that just killed it and made the series unstoppable to watch.

After him is the 11th doctor and he is an entertaining Doctor. The 11th Doctor is played by Matt Smith. His character is a comedian and he does make you laugh. For me he was so caring about everyone but he did share that with the 10th Doctor, they both were extremely aware of what happened around them. The 11th Doctor also brought along with him River Song and she is this amazing character that is just perfect and amazing. His collection within the series was brilliant.

The most current Doctor is the 12th Doctor and I don't know much on him. I have to admit I haven't really experienced enough of him to figure out if I like him or not. The 12th Doctor is played by Peter Capaldi and he brings this older aspect to the show. It is true that the Doctor is over 1000 years old and it helps realize much more about him. And I feel he brings this new attitude to the character that is enlightening and I would like to really experience more of it.
